April News 2008

Greetings Woodland Watchers! Spring is HERE and the crocuses are starting to emerge like mad! Day by day it gets a little nicer. Warm weather energizes and inspires me.

I've been having much studio fun and just love working on the Tiki Shrines ! There are a few listed now of varying sizes with and without lights or icons. I continue my search for Mindimbit statues, phallocrypts and other PNG art that appeals to me and my friend Domi continues to offer me very tempting pieces. You can see some of Domi's remarkable collection here: Oceania Etc

I have been working on a new assemblage entitled Sideshow Dream and this piece just grew and grew as I worked on it. It took awhile and is finally completed and listed to Enchanted Forest Shop. You can look at this piece over and over and you will still find something you didn't see before.

Maria gave me the sweetest tiny little Madame Alexander witch doll for the collection. It is just precious! The doll's face reminds me of Maria's daughter and I just have to smile every time I look at it!

I got my Ashford Heddle loom, made in New Zealand and am so looking forward to working on that but I really need Skeetie to assemble it for me! I took one look at the pieces and the instructions and I said "no way". I love fibre, fabric, weaving, textures and have many plans for using the loom. Meanwhile there are a couple of new hand crocheted Warrior Witch in Winter hat creations listed to The Magical Bag shop including the Wicked new Art Beret.

My friend Nutmeg has opened up a beautiful coffee and tea shop on the west coast. She's in Port Angeles, Washington. If you are nearby, stop in and visit her. She has live entertainment, workshops etc. Check her out at: Veela Cafe

I have not reminded you in awhile but the Animal Rescue Site really needs our help! Click daily on the purple box to feed the animals! It's totally free and sponsors donate with every click we make! I click every single morning when I check my email. So please click daily and help feed the homeless animals! Animal Rescue Site

As some of you may have read in my blog, I broke and dislocated my toe last week and that was quite the ordeal! It was totally deformed, swollen and bruised and the Doc had to relocate it which hurt worse than a tongue piercing!! Now I am hoping it will heal and stay straight before the true sandal weather arrives. My feet long for sandals. They hate to be enclosed.

Me and Skeet had our Pasqua dinner at Umberto's Clam Bar in Little Italy this year and that was really fun. It's been awhile since I've been down to Mulberry Street and you forget just how fabulous the food is there until you go back after a time away! We like Umberto's wicked hot sauce and both had it. Me on ziti and he on linguini with calimari and scungilli

Skeetie gave me a beautiful antique porcelain top table which I absolutely love. He's fixing the drawer for me as it needs a new bottom but the table is perfect in the kitchen and gives me so much more room! I love how a single element gives a room a whole new look and feel! Now I'll be on a quest for vintage chairs that will better suit the table.

I was just back at Jinx Proof for some new ink. It's been over a month since I've gotten to hang out with my boys there. I have the next several ideas lined up already! This time I got my fabulous Rockabilly Hep Cat and a perfect Coop drawn Sparkplug. Eric worked his usual magic and it was a wonderful day. I love my little dysfunctional family at Jinx. Ox will be doing some guest spots all over Scandinavia and we wish him much luck and adventure while he's over there! We'll miss him!!

For those of you with an interest in Wicca, my dear friend Amythyst has a new website that is a wonderful witchy wonderland of information! If you are new to the Craft, there are plenty of articles and stuff to help you along. You can well see the Witch's Corner is a true labor of love and Amythyst adds to it often. Please take a moment and check it out!

My friend Steph was in a horrible accident recently when a speeding asshole in a BMW lost control, crossed the divider and hit her broadside. Her little daughter Donna sustained some major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital but right now they are all ok and healing (Donna's even SMILING!) Please pray for them with me! Hugs out to my 'Little Holler'!!

Skeet and I have continued our very excellent adventures returning to our favorite, New York City, for the second week in a row! We wanted to check out Billy's Antiques and Props on Houston and the place had so many fun things! It was filled with oddities in every nook and cranny. We also went back to the Antique Garage and the 25th St Green Flea but, alas, it was still uncomfortably cold and I am still having trouble walking with this broken toe! When it was too cold for comfort we ducked into Hill Country Barbeque a fabulous Texas Style restaurant where we had a wonderful and unique experience! You had to get your main dish (wrapped in brown paper) at one station, your sides at another and dessert and drinks at yet another! Great food and atmosphere! After we came home Skeetie DID assemble my loom (thank you, Baby!) so I look forward to playing with that in the upcoming week. I have many ideas for woven pieces in my head and am really excited about trying it out.

Well, I think that is about all for now! This month's tune is Psychobilly Outlaw by Hayride to Hell. Hope you are all happy, well and having your own excellent adventures! Let's all think warm and before you know it we WILL be! Happy Spring!

Love Out~Tink
