February 2008/ Valentine's Day~Imbolc
Here we are inching our way towards Spring! I am longing for the warm weather. It just can't come soon enough for me. This month is the month of love and I am so lucky to have the BEST man in the world. I don't know how I ever lucked out like this, but I did and I am happy!!
I have been cleaning and organizing in keeping with the spirit of Imbolc~ "out with the old, in with the new!" I am even selling off some of my creepy antique doll collection. If any of you are doll people, you can find them here tinkwitch Doll Listings
I've been busy in the studio, too, and have just begun the new Tinki's Tiki's collection of jewelry including pins and third eye pieces. The Tinki's Tiki's Collection can be found in the Enchanted Forest Shop
Skeetie and I continue the Winter Antiques Tour '08 and are hitting all the wonderful antique shows and centers around our area. We were recently back in Cold Springs and then our fave NYC for the Antique Garage where I stocked up on old jewelry bits & bobs and other findings for my Third Eye pieces. I found tons of fabulous stuff there this time around.Visit the garage here: Antique Garage
The outdoor market on 25th St happened to be open despite the cold, as well! We had great fun going through all that stuff, too. I found 3 more bone apothacary bottles etched with Asian Erotica to add to my collection. Afterwards it was off to the Delta Grill for some wicked Cajun food! Check out Delta Grill
Our Tiki Odyssey continues and Skeet recently got his Tiki tattoo and it came out superbly! Ox did an amazing job on it, as usual. I was back for my new Hot Rod Tiki piece and this one is a true masterpiece by Eric Newman the cartoonist extraordinaire! Check them out here Jinx Proof Tattoo & Body Piercing
We were back at Professor Ouch's Odditorium recently and Ouch was the perfect host showing us all around the place as we marvelled at all his amazing finds. We came home with an enormous piece of taxidermy and a vintage horror movie event poster. Ouch's collection of old tattoo equipment & memorabilia is quite impressive, as well!! Step right up! Skeet recently took me to a fabulous place called Otto's Shrunken Head Tiki Bar and Lounge. This place has total Tiki personality and they often have live bands in the back room. Once all my organizing is accomplished I will be able to really settle down in the studio and get lots of new pieces ready for early Spring release. I plan more collage work, many more Third Eye pieces and anything that the spirit moves me to do!
The lush, thick, chunky & luxurious Warrior Witch in Winter scarves are available in the Magical Bag Shop and these are must have pieces for those of you in the colder climes! I swear by mine and can't leave the house without it wrapped around me several times. I get many comments on it everywhere I go!
We are talking about a trip to New Orleans for a long weekend at some point. I love New Orleans and have been there several times. This time we'll add a Bayou tour which should be Voodoo amazing! Another idea we have for the Fall is a Tiki road trip. I am really looking forward to that! We will plan our route with stuff Skeet has found online and the help of the book "Tiki Road Trip: a Guide to Tiki Culture in North America" by James Teitelbaum.
Soon Skeetie is off to Daytona for Bike Week with the boys so I will delve into the studio while he's away and really get going on new works. Hopefully I will also continue to list more of my creepy dolls for sale to new collectors. They have given me great enjoyment for many years , now it's time for someone else to delight in their haunting beauty!
There is a new Art Card by Tink© on the way so look for that to show up soon. That's the first one in quite a while but I plan more in the near future. Collage is one of my favorite things to create.
Well that is about it for now, I think, as we look forward to Spring and the warm sun on our faces as we get to be back outside again.
The Hot Rods & Bikes will come out and all the fun outdoor festivities will start anew. AND all the open air flea markets will be back in full swing. I can't wait!!
