Labor Day September 2008!
This year is just flying by and here we are at Summer's "official" end. Labor Day weekend has the one and only Rutherford Antiques Street Fair which I can't wait for and that weekend is also the huge Lead East Car Show which we will be hitting!

This is the best time of year for cruising in the hot rod or just taking any drive in the country. As Fall approaches the countryside gets prettier and prettier. Lot's of roadside produce available now, too! I just love the country farm stands.

I also love the city at this time of year and we took a recent trip in to visit the Hell's Kitchen flea market. We found a beautiful and romantic restaurant across the street called Trattoria Casa di Isacco on 9th Ave which was superb! The food was amazing, fresh and cooked to order and the owner shared his homemade fig grappa with us while telling us about the making of it and then took us outside to show us his plans for the grapevines he had planted there. It was so fabulous and the Hell's Kitchen flea was great as well! We found some fun stuff and we will definitely be going back.

A few weeks ago we took the hot rod to NY state for the Rust Riot in Putnam Valley. That show was so much fun and we met some cool people, listened to great rockabilly and had yummy burgers on the grill along with German brews. The merchants at the event were great and we bought some awesome stuff. I'm sure we'll be making that event a yearly stop.

We also went to the first annual Hot Rod Hustle in Asbury NJ held on the grounds of the Landslide Saloon. What beautiful Jersey farm country that area is! Lot's of Skeetie's buds showed up with their cars or bikes so it was really a fun day. The weather was absolutely perfect! You could not wish for better car show weather! They had a very unique set up for food at this show and you had a wonderful choice of cooked to order stuff! I had an amazing black bean burger and Skeetie had a pulled pork sandwich. The food came with a soda or water and cost only 5 bucks! An incredible bargain by today's standards AND you got a bottomless beer for 10 bucks with admission! There was a fabulous wooden pavilion with picnic tables to eat at and there were even horses in the meadow. The Gasket Goons CC aced their first annual show in my book. We'll be back.

The other big car show event we'll be attending soon is our friend Professor Ouch's Hot Rod Hoedown in the Philly area. This is going to be a big one and goes on for the entire weekend. The Professor really knows how to throw an event so I am really looking forward to this one!

We are planning to take a trip to New Orleans for a long weekend at the end of October and I am so hoping we are able to do that what with the launching of Skeetie's new business as it is near my birthday and it would be so fun to get away and get back to that fabulous city that I adore. That weekend hosts the Voodoo Music Festival AND the Voodoo Tattoo Convention. It has been quite awhile since I have been there. I'd be just as happy going to Salem, Corning, Cape May or Woodstock that weekend, though, so we'll see what happens.

Of course I have been back to Jinx Proof to finish up the superb Punchinello. The piece is spectacular and Eric did the usual amazingly detailed job. Etsy friend Nik Scarlett has created some awesome pieces that I'd like to incorporate into my existing left arm work. For now I plan to finish the right sleeve which is nearing completion and is a true living, breathing, portable low brow gallery featuring Von Franco, Scott Musgrove, Coop, Dave Wallin and Dirty Donny. Jinx is also in the process of expanding into a larger space so that is cool as they really need the space. They are really cramped where they are now. We'll be lending a hand with painting and what not while the renovations are under way. I was also at Jinx the weekend Ox hosted guest artist Dave Steele of Philadelphia Eddie's Chinatown and Dave did some beautiful, perfect lettering on me. It was great meeting Dave and being able to get inked by him. He was a really nice dude.

When you think of how fast the year is going you realize that it most certainly is not too early to start your holiday shopping. Tinker's Witch Crafts is here to help you out as we have been for over 6 years now! We've got unique one of a kind art work in all price ranges including shrines, jewelry, the fun new Atomic Fez's and the customer favorite the Art Cards by Tinkİ line. Please keep us in mind while doing your Holiday shopping this year!

Skeetie will be heading to Key West this month and while he's away I will be working in the studio on a new idea I have incorporating spark plugs into jewelry for the Greaser Girls out there. Skeet is working on the drilling of perfect holes for me the way I envisioned in the sparkplugs. Easier said than done!! I am excited to try my ideas for these pieces and I will keep you posted on the progress. Skeetie's camera recently died so I grabbed him a new small, black unobtrusive Nikon that he can easily carry in his pocket. I know he will want to take pics in Key West. When I got that camera, I also scored a major Nikon DSLR for myself and I am SO excited to work with it. All the events coming up will be my playground! Skeetie already thinks I carry too much crap wherever we go, now I will be even more bogged down.

I've aquired some great books on Weegee. His photographs are probably my all time favorites. They are so gritty, disturbing and real. As NY was his turf I especially relate to the images as we are so familiar with that great city. Some recommended titles are Unknown Weegee, Naked City and the best of the best is Weegee's New York Photographs 1935-1960.

On the assemblage scene I have been working on my own tribute to the creepy clown and having great fun with that piece. I was amazed to see how many people suffer from Coulrophobia (fear of Clowns). I adore clowns and the creepier the better!

We have been having the best weather here! No humidity. Beautiful clear skies and it is such a pleasure. Skeetie gets to ride the bikes and we get to really enjoy the hot rod. With all the weekends taken up by car shows, I will need to get in a really good flea market fix soon! I miss antiquing when I don't do it for a couple of weeks. We do have all year long for the NY markets and until Oct 11th on the Orange County flea so we're good.

Well, this has been a magical Summer and I am looking towards the Fall. A most beautiful time of year. I hope you are all savouring your last remaining moments of Summer.
Brightest Summer Blessings~
